Adaptive Services Grid Deliverable D 5 . II - 7 Design and Integration of SLA Monitoring and Negotiation Capabilities

چکیده
for dissemination Adaptive Services Grid (ASG) is an Integrated Project supported by the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission under the Information Society Technology Objective Open Development Platforms for Software and Services. The goal of ASG is to develop a proof-of-concept prototype of an open platform for adaptive services discovery, creation, composition, and enactment. This deliverable underlines the efforts of supporting the development of the above mentioned platform to realize the ASG Service Provisioning Features, especially the reliable service provision with assured quality of service. Providing an assured level of quality demands the ability to measure quality-relevant attributes, i. e. monitoring, and the ability to negotiate quality-of-service parameters. While negotiation is researched by other work components, validation of conformance between a service-level agreement (SLA) and the effectively delivered service with regard to QoS aspects demands application or service management and monitoring at infrastructure level. In the context of the ASG platform, higher layers therefore need monitoring support at the level of the execution environment and in particular throughout the whole implementation of the C-5 Services Infrastructure (SI). Our document discusses first the business-related requirements of application management and monitoring, and presents then an appropriate monitoring model and its implementation in our reference implementation We further discuss the relation of ASG SLA negotiation capabilities to the presented monitoring functionalities, and show how the results of other work components in ASG working on this SLA negotiation are integrated in our framework.

Grid Service Level Agreements Combining Resource Reservation and Predictive Run-time Adaptation
Resource reservation and performance prediction of execution run-times are key components in delivering timely application services for decision support systems. The provision of Service Level Agreements (SLA) and components to manage tasks such as resource negotiation, monitoring and policing are needed to help meet this requirement. This paper presents an SLA management architecture for use i...
متن کاملTowards a Meta-Negotiation Architecture for SLA-Aware Grid Services
In novel market-oriented resource sharing models resource consumers pay for the resource usage and expect that non-functional requirements for the application execution, termed as Quality of Service (QoS), are satisfied. QoS is negotiated between two parties following the specific negotiation protocols and is recorded using Service Level Agreements (SLAs) standard. However, most of the existing...

Cloud computing is a newly emerged computing infrastructure that builds on the latest achievements of diverse research areas, such as Grid computing, Service-oriented computing, business process management and virtualization. An important characteristic of Cloud-based services is the provision of non-functional guarantees in the form of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), such as guarantees on exe...
متن کاملLife Cycle Automation and Management of the Distributed SLAs for Cloud Services
Cloud service providers mostly offer service level agreements (SLAs) in descriptive format which is not directly consumable by a machine or a system. Manual management of SLAs with growing usage of cloud services can be a challenging, erroneous and tedious task especially for the cloud service users (CSUs) acquiring multiple cloud services. The necessity of automating the complete SLA life cycl...
متن کاملSelf-adaptive service level agreement monitoring in cloud environments
Cloud Service Providers offer access to hardware and software resources across the Internet. Cloud Service Providers and their clients negotiate Service Level Agreements (SLA) that specify terms and conditions of services. To ensure that an SLA is being honored by all parties the service is monitored. This paper proposes a monitoring approach that automatically adapts the monitoring process in ...
